Children In Need
We are lucky to have the support of Children In Need who help to fund our Training Centre and the City and Guilds course we offer to our 16-18 year old residents. Our current group decided they would like to give something back to the charity and agreed to use their Candidate Project unit for planning, creating and running a fundraising day on the 14th November 2014.
The Training Group allocated roles to each other which included making invites, preparing games to raise money, doing decorations, baking cakes and cookies, and helping out on the day itself. They all showed great enthusiasm and motivation with the task and created some wonderful decorations for the room. They devised games which included ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy’, ‘Guess How Many Sweets in a Jar’, ‘Guess the Weight of the Cake’, ‘Pin the Patch on Pudsey’ and ‘Fill Pudsey with Change’. Cakes and cookies were baked to be sold as well as offering a variety of drinks.
The day went superbly! We had good attendance from other residents, staff, committee members and local organisations such as TYS and the local PCSO. The residents all worked well together to sell their games and food as well as interacting with the guests. Jodie won the sweets competition (171 in the jar), Kieran won the cake (it weighed 1997g) and Teresa won the Teddy (called Barnie).
Overall we raised
We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all that attended and helped us raise this money for Children In Need.
