My story: Adam

“Dance is my life and has given me hope.  Ever since I first started dancing many years ago it has made me feel like something more than I am.  It’s my way of getting away from everything, being alone in my little bubble, doing what I enjoy with the people that understand me the most.  Dance is my way out.  Dance can show many things about someone and is an individual interpretation of what is loved by a variety of people around the globe.

It gives people strength and ambitions to strive towards a goal.  To become the best that they can at what they do, no matter what age or gender, the passion for it is still the same.  It has helped me change my life for the better and made me the person I am today.  In my eyes dance is my only parent.  It’s given me opportunities that other people would live a lifetime and not get.  It has helped me through times that have affected me greatly and introduced me to people who will be in my life for a long time to come.

Dance is my life and this has been the case for a few years now and has helped me to develop skills that I would not have otherwise and through some tough situations as my home life was quite difficult and dance provided me with an escape.  It’s all well and good saying that “to be a dancer is my dream”, but for you to go out and make it happen is a completely different task altogether.  This is why I’m taking the steps to ensure that I can secure myself a future in the thing that has saved me from illness and trouble and has made me feel like everything will be alright in the end.  And my wish is to inspire other dancers, young and old and maybe people who have never danced to gain the same passion for it as I have and to see the same in dance as I do.

I have been dancing for 8 years now and can honestly say that if I didn’t start dancing on that day I would not be the person I am now”.
