We are fortunate to receive donations and funding from a variety of sources here at Newark Emmaus Trust which all go to help our young people in many ways including developing skills and having new experiences.
The Lock Keepers Coffee House & Bar provides us with donations of food from their cafe ranging from loaves of bread to delicious cakes! This donation is well received by our residents and they make good use of the donated food. When living on such a tight budget, the offer of a cake is a real treat. The Lock Keepers is located on 50-58 Castle Castle Gate, Riverview (by the side of the lock!) and is open daily 10am-5pm and Friday and Saturday evenings to 11.30pm. They have a lovely menu of sandwiches, jacket potatoes and cakes, with hot and cold drinks available. Free WiFi and dog friendly make it a lovely stop whilst out in Newark. Visit their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/thelockkeepers and pop in for a warm welcome!
We were successful with a funding bid from Screwfix of £2900 to help repair, decorate and maintain our properties. Some of our residents met with the ambassador and area manager from Screwfix when they came to present this award. Screwfix complete many fundraising events to enable them to give to charities. Visit http://www.screwfix.com/jsp/landing.jsp?id=ScrewfixFoundation to view their fund our visit the link to their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/FoundationSfix . Our residents will gain many skills in decorating and DIY using this grant, which will ultimately help them when they move into their own accommodation.
Communication Avenue is a local business who has supported us in the past and continues to do so by doing fundraising events in their offices. Their latest fundraiser was a battle of the departments quiz, raising £60 for our charity. Read their story here and visit their website
